Hi friends!
Life has been a little crazy recently, so I’m sharing a HIIT treadmill workout that has provided me with some stress relief. Since we got engaged, I’ve been moving out of my apartment and into Will’s place. It has been a long, drawn out undertaking – because I have SO many things to move, donate or throw away. While it is nice that I have been able to slowly move things over a few weekends, and I have Will helping me, life feels a little discombobulated when your belongings are split between two locations.
Good stress?
On top of that, we have started searching for wedding venues, work has been busy and I’ve also been studying up on how to take my blog to the next level (woohoo!). Don’t get me wrong. Life is good. I don’t have much to complain about, and I feel fulfilled in so many ways. But, I can’t help but feel stressed that so many things are happening at the same time. It makes me wonder – can we be stressed from good things? And is that ok?
I wanted to share my thoughts to let you know — if you feel a little stressed out, even if it’s for all good reasons, you’re not alone! It can be helpful to remember when stress comes from positive things that there are wonderful things happening in your life. It is ok to admit to your stress. But, I have found that turning my stress into gratitude and reasons to be thankful makes me feel much happier and content with a stressful period in my life. A little stress here and there can also be normal, even if it’s from things you are so happy about. The key is to check yourself, accept the stress, lean into it and create some moments of peace or relief throughout the stressful time.
My HIIT Treadmill Workout
I find peace and confidence to work through the stress when I workout. My go-to stress reliever has been running and working out (which I shared with you in February), and it has continued to be a healthy outlet for me recently. A couple of months ago, I created my own HIIT (high intensity, interval training) workout for the treadmill and I have really enjoyed it on a few recent rainy (or super-pollen-ated!) days. The great thing is, I can modify it for the elliptical if my knees are bothering me or even increase the speeds and inclines if I’m feeling extra energetic.
Why I love HIIT workouts
HIIT workouts are my favorite because they get my heart rate going quickly, and I enjoy breaking a sweat when I workout. I typically start with a HIIT run for about 30 minutes and follow it with 20 minutes of body weight resistance exercises, like jump squats, planks, mountain climbers and push ups. HIIT training is thought to help burn more calories, strengthen your heart and even help you lose weight faster. Personally, I have found HIIT has allowed me to gain strength and endurance.
Have you tried HIIT workouts? I’d love to hear if you’ve experiences some good things in your life that have stressed you out, and how you worked through it.
Cheers!
Sarah Camille
P.S. Here are a few of my favorite running shoes. What’s your favorite shoe for running?
Very nice content. Loved the way of writing. Pair of shoes is awesome.
I like this suggestion for working out. The speeds seem to be doable.
I’ve been experimenting with Tabata workouts and I’ve been really good results with them!
Lovely shoes. I am planning to get a treadmill so I can do some exercise at home.
Love the alternating incline- that`s one of my favorites ways to rock HIIT treadmill workouts!
I love the shoes! I don’t have a treadmill at home, and I get a lot of exercise just by going to work (I work retail in a large store) because I have to walk around everywhere and lift fairly heavy items sometimes. But for those who work in an office, these are great exercise tips!
I think this may be a little too intense for me, but I definitely like to exercise when I’m stressed. It really clears my mind.
Thanks for explaining the HIIT workouts, I hadn’t considered them before. Great shoe suggestions, they are all super cute!
I get bored of working out unless it’s hiit now. I like the power I feel of sprinting too.
Yes!! HIIT exercises really do help spice up your workout routine. 🙂
Such a great read!
Thanks so much! 😊
great share. i have a number of clients that really enjoy hiit workouts–they’re quick, challenging, and get results. thanks for the post and i’ll be sharing it with them!
When I run, I now just run outdoors. I used to do more hit treadmill workouts when I belonged to a gym. I took 3 classes this week from a groupon for a studio that does HIT classes on assault bikes. I’m still sore, but a good kind of sore, of course. Will definitely bookmark your workout for next time I’m near a treadmill.
The pink Nikes are so cute!
I have been looking for anew treadmill workout! So excited to try this on eat the gym tonight.
