5 Holiday Outfit Ideas You Can Wear After the Holidays

If you didn’t know, one of my favorite things to do is create new outfits in my wardrobe. Last weekend, I came up with some simple holiday outfit ideas and I’m sharing them today to give you all some style inspiration for what to wear for Thanksgiving or any upcoming holiday parties. The best part is – each outfit can easily be worn well after the holiday season!

Maybe it’s just me, but this year I have come across a lot of expensive holiday outfits that involve tons of Christmas plaid or super festive prints, and pieces that likely wouldn’t be worn past December 25th. They’re adorable and tempting for sure, but really not practical. To me, it’s not realistic to spend a lot on something you can only wear for one month out of the year (any maybe only a couple times that month). Since I know you all also appreciate affordable and practical outfit ideas, I felt compelled to create some holiday looks that will give you a festive vibe, but also work after the holidays. The looks are in order from the dressiest option to the most casual.

V-Neck Sweater or Pearl Accent Sweater | Pleated Dot Skirt | Knee High Boots (similar) | Crossbody Bag

Can we just take a moment to appreciate this pleated skirt?! I found it on amazon for under $25 (fit is true to size). It has such pretty movement. The pleats and elastic waist make it so flattering, AND it has pockets! I couldn’t decide between pairing it with a plain v-neck sweater or the one with pearl details (under $20 btw!) around the neckline. Which one do you like best?!

Sweater Dress | Faux Fur Vest (similar) | Knee High Boots | Animal Print Crossbody

Let’s be real. This outfit is for my neutral loving friends who are not into Christmas plaid at all. The faux fur vest adds a subtle festive vibe, while still looking chic. This marled sweater dress is a great affordable find too. It is a thick, soft material, has a mock neck detail and fits true to size.

Style Tip: make this more festive by switching out the crossbody bag for a neutral option and adding some affordable festive accessories, like these…

Poppy Floral Print Blouse | High Waisted Skinny Jeans | Patent Pumps | Faux Fur Vest (similar)

This poppy floral print top makes me so happy. It’s fun, but also classic – the best combination in my opinion! I love how it looks with my favorite skinny jeans and the black faux fur vest I got from my favorite local boutique last year.

Style Tip: transition this outfit for a work holiday party by switching the vest for a blazer and the jeans for work pants or a skirt.

Black Watch Plaid Blouse | Quilted Vest |High Waisted Skinny Jeans | Knee High Suede Boots (similar)

Dark plaid prints are becoming more popular this year, and I’m in love! It is the perfect way to “do” plaid without screaming Christmas! I paired the top with a tan vest and my favorite suede boots to add some contrast.

Chunky Cable Knit Sweater | Plaid Scarf | High Waisted Skinny Jeans | Fleece-Lined Boots | Fringe Earrings

This outfit is hands-down my kind of style for Thanksgiving! I’ve been living in this super soft sweater and the oversized fit is perfect for any holiday outing that involves pie! If this plaid scarf looks familiar, it is from my post rounding up my favorite affordable plaid scarves. It is under $20, and I’m honestly amazed by the quality. It’s thick and super soft.

Style Tip: switch out the scarf for a more Christmas-y one (like this!) and you’ll be ready for Christmas!

So that’s it — some holiday outfit ideas for you that will live on long after the holiday season. I really enjoyed putting these looks together, so I hope you found some practical style inspiration for the events you have coming up.

Cheers!
