Friday Favorite: FabFitFun Winter Box & Code for $10 OFF

Hi friends! The official start of winter is next week, and just in time arrived one of my favorite things of the year (eek!). So for my Friday Favorite, I will show you all what’s inside the FabFitFun Winter Box. If you don’t know, FabFitFun is a quarterly subscription program that sends you a box full of items valuing well over $300! All the items relate to beauty, fashion, and/or fitness. Also, FabFitFun boxes have a different design for their box each season. How pretty is this winter one!? It is inspired by their charity or the month, the American Heart Association.

Inside the FabFitFun Winter Box

  1. Kate Somerville ExfoliKate Intensive Exfoliating Treatment – $75
    • Now, this is the most expensive item in my Winter Box. I have never used this exfoliator, but I know Kate Somerville has great skin care products. So, I was excited to see it in my box and try it out! The best thing about this exfoliation product is that my skin looked brighter and felt softer after my first use.
  2. Pointe Studio Aloe Infused Cozy Socks – $19
    • All subscribers will receive one of three colors. Colors will be randomly selected. Cozy, fuzzy socks! What a perfect Winter box item! I’m already picturing myself curled up with a book, these socks, and tea in my new mug! FabFitFun recommends washing them on the cold setting and tumble dry low to ensure the aloe infused part lasts 25-30 washes.
  3. Homemade by Ayesha Curry Ceramic Mug – $16
    • Subscribers receive one of three designs. This cute mug is 15 oz and microwave and dishwasher safe! The “coming in hot” design really works for me, since I tend to be rushing (read: running behind!) in the mornings!
  4. Ahava Mineral Hand Cream – $33
    • How perfect for winter? This cream has been working wonders on my hands so far. While it is super rich and hydrating, it doesn’t leave my hands greasy since it absorbs into my skin very quickly.
  5. Grace & Stella Anti-Wrinkle Energizing Eye Masks – 8 for $16
    • This eye mask set is the beauty product I chose. All subscribers had the opportunity to pick  these eye masks or Nelson J. Beverly Hills Moisture Healing Hair Mask in Coconut. I LOVE eye masks and these ones work really well! They stay on very well, and I could see after one use that skin under my eyes was smoother and more hydrated. The formula  includes collagen and minerals that fight fine lines, puffiness, and under eye circles.
  6. 8 Other Reasons 9 Lives Choker in Rose Gold– $58
    • I had not heard of this brand, but this necklace might be my favorite piece of jewelry I have gotten from FabFitFun so far. I don’t have anything like it, which is always a plus! The choker also has a 4-inch extender, so you can wear it as a necklace. 8 Other Reasons has some beautiful similar necklaces if you are in the market for something like this.
  7. Doucce Freematic Eyeshadow Pro Palette in Smokey – $70
    • This palette comes in Nude or Smokey, and I picked the Smokey shade since I don’t have a palette with a darker hue of colors. There are 5 shimmer eyeshadows, 3 matte eyeshadows and a shimmery highlighter. A couple of the colors did not show up well on my skin, but the eyeshadows and highlighter seem to have good staying power.
  8. FabFitFun TV Fitness Ball with Jillian Michales Videos – $16
    • I chose this fitness ball as my wellness item. Subscribers could pick this ball or the Deep Sleep Pillow Spray by ThisWorks. Working out from the comfort of my home is always nice, so I love any product that encourages me to do so. Even better, FabFitFun pairs the ball with exclusive workouts from Jillian Michaels that you can watch on FabFitFun TV. Tools to inflate and deflate the ball were also included, so traveling with it will be a breeze!
  9. BB Dakota Poncho – $70
    • This poncho is available in 3 different colors – black, charcoal and mulberry. Since I am an annual subscriber, I got to pick my color and chose mulberry. It feels like wearing a blanket and is also reversible. Take a look below at the two designs of the poncho I got. This is my first poncho and I love layering pieces, so this was an exciting find in my box!

This box has a retail value of $373! On top of that, I happened to choose the least expensive products! I am always amazed at the quality and selection of products in my FabFitFun boxes, but this one might just be my favorite.

Now, here is the scoop on FabFitFun:

  • Price = $49.99 per box
  • COUPON = Click here to get $10 OFF your first FabFitFun coupon!
  • Value = more than $300 in products
  • Good news =
    1. You can still get or give this box! FabFitFun gives you the option to pick various products for your own winter box. There are a few items from the fall box you can choose as well.
    2. In addition to the box and all its contents, subscribers get access to beauty tips, workout videos and coupon codes for the box’s featured brands
  • Verdict = A great-valued subscription box for consistently awesome products!

I have honestly debated whether or not I will renew this box for next year, and I feel like for now, it is worth it. I love getting things that I would not normally think to buy for myself. Do you think it is worth it?

A subscription box like this can be a perfect gift for the holidays, too, especially when you have someone on your list who’s hard to shop for. How do you like the items inside the FabFitFun winter box? Do you love it as much as I do? I would love to know if you enjoy this subscription box or any others, too.

Cheers and happy holidays!

Establishing Christmas Traditions

On Christmas Day with my family, everyone takes a turn going through their stocking. Before any Christmas gifts are opened, we go one by one and item by item. As little kids, gifts from Santa were not wrapped, but were instead displayed with our stocking. Seeing everything from Santa displayed together was always super exciting.

Now, I know it may sound like torture to refrain from opening gifts. But, having that time together to go through our stockings is absolutely one of my favorite Christmas traditions. Similar to the affordable Christmas gifts I have shared with you, our stockings have a mix of candy, beauty products and small items that are just for us. Take a look at my stocking from last year, below.

Affordable Christmas and Stocking Stuffer Gift Ideas

Since I am getting married next year, this Christmas will be the last time my family does the stockings all together. While we will have many future Christmases together, the dynamic will change. Will and I will pass along this tradition to our family. I think carrying on traditions like these can be a meaningful way to stay connected to those you love.

Now, I would love to know about your traditions and your favorite affordable Christmas gifts. Do you have a favorite tradition in your family or did you continue one from your childhood? What do you like to give and receive during the holidays?  Are there any go-to, affordable Christmas gifts or stocking stuffers that you love? Also, stay tuned for the story of my newest Christmas tradition.

Cheers & Happy Holidays!

A New D.C. Tote & 12 Ruffled Tops for the Holidays

Happy Thanksgiving Eve my friends! I am excited to get lots of time with my family and Will’s over the next few days. But before the festivities begin, I am sharing with you all 12 ruffled tops for the holidays and The Little Market’s new reusable tote that I previewed in my Cheap Date ideas post. As you may recall, I did a little modeling with the totes around DC for photographer-extraordinaire Joffoto. I promised more photos and details, so here they are!

The Little Market’s Reusable Tote

In case you don’t know, The Little Market is a company that gives its customers the ability to purchase handmade fair trade products crafted by artisans around the world. If you are looking for a particularly meaningful or thoughtful gift this holiday season, definitely check them out. They have all kinds of unique home decor and accessories, like beautiful woven baskets, personalized candles, baby blankets and elephant-shaped mugs (swoon!!). There is something about a handmade gift that you know is supporting people around the world that just feels extra special.

Side note: This post is not sponsored by The Little Market. I was just fortunate to do some modeling with their totes through my connection to Jof. As always, my opinions are authentic, and this is just a company I truly love.

Outfit Details: Ruffled Top | Skinny Jeans | Booties (hello, short version!)| Watch Necklace | Bracelets

Now to the bag I wore for our photo shoot. It is their newest locals bag for Washington, D.C.  These reusable bags are so functional, cute and sturdy. The Little Market has a ton of totes for various cities around the world and totes with various sayings, like happy holidays, packed with love and bonjour!

I styled the tote with Gibson’s Ruffled Hem Top from Nordstrom, my favorite skinny jeans and super comfortable brown booties. Ruffled tops are one of my favorite trends this season. And since there are several on my wish list (and maybe sitting in a couple of online shopping carts!), I am sharing the ones at the very top of my list.

Ruffled Tops for the Holidays

The plaid ruffled tops might be my favorite because they feel festive and I like the mix of a masculine print with feminine ruffles. I also like styling flowy, ruffled tops with skinny jeans. For a holiday party, try pairing a ruffled top with a structured skirt. Now do you have any ruffled tops to wear this holidays season? Is there a way you prefer to style them?

I would also love to know your thoughts on The Little Market and giving a gift that supports local artisans. Do you shop anywhere that is similar? Or have a unique, handmade gift you love to give? Tell me all about it in the comments!

I hope you all have a wonderful Thanksgiving and have time to be with the people you are most thankful for.

Cheers!

11 Cheap Date Ideas & a New Bag from The Little Market!

Hi friends!

How is your week going? I am still reminiscing over the weekend. Will and I spent in western Virginia. The fall foliage was seriously stunning (see below!) and the fresh air was just what we needed. The weekend away reminded me how wonderful the simple things are in life and how a good time doesn’t need to cost anything. All that matters is that you’re in good company! So, today I’m sharing fun and cheap date ideas that Will and I have done.

11 Cheap Date Ideas for Quality Time - SCSScoop.com

Sneak Peek

First, there’s a little sneak peek for you I need to point out. The photos, courtesy of Joffoto, in this post are from some modeling I did for The Little Market’s newest locals bag for Washington, D.C. We had a blast visiting the local farmer’s market (hello, cheap date idea #1!) and putting The Little Market’s reusable bag to good use. I will do a full post on the blog with more photos and details of the bag and The Little Market soon.

Cheap Date Ideas

  1. Browse your local Farmer’s Market.
  2. Volunteer at the Animal Shelter. (Warning: you may end up adopting an animal!)
  3. Play cards or board games, with a side of B&B on the rocks.
  4. Visit the zoo.
  5. Throwback Thursday – take a walk down memory lane together. Give a tour of memorable childhood places, like your school, neighborhood or playground.
  6. Cook together and try a new recipe.
  7. Go on a hike.
  8. Visit a new food truck and have a picnic at the park.
  9. Star gaze at the beach.
  10. Hang out on the swings of a nearby playground, and pretend you’re 5 again!
  11. Go fishing or catch fire flies at dusk.

What I like about these ideas most is that they all give you and your partner time to focus on each other, and really have good quality time with each other. Over the past couple years, Will and I have discovered the difference in being together and truly being focused on having good quality time together. For me, this means putting my phone away and any other distractions!

The Ultimate Fall Fashion Checklist

Ultimate Fall Fashion Checklist

Hi friends! How have you been? I feel like fall is zooming by. Is it just me?! I recently celebrated my birthday and was able to sneak away for a little weekend at the beach. Will and I also have our 15-year and 10-year high school reunions this weekend (where has time gone!?).  And now that cool weather is finally setting in to D.C., the time is right to share my ultimate fall fashion checklist.

Fall is my favorite season. I love layering clothes and combining different patterns and cozy textures together as the crisp weather sets in. So, if you love to layer clothes or are looking for some inspiration for your fall wardrobe, this checklist is for you! The items on this list will leave you with endless outfit options for fall and transitioning into winter.

The Fall Fashion Checklist for Ultimate Style

Ultimate Must Haves Fall Fashion Checklist

Now that I have laid out my fall fashion checklist, I will share with you what I own, recommend and love that is on this list. There a few things I am eyeing, noted below too.

Long-Sleeve Striped Tee

Cotton Cardigan

Utility Vest

Riding Boots

Blanket Scarf

Skinny Blue Jeans

Long-Sleeved Lace Top

Flat Booties

Olive Pants

Infinity Scarf

Ruffled, Flowy Top

Crossbody Bag

Chunky Open Cardigan

Lace-up Top

Burgundy Pants

Quilted Jacket

Heeled Booties

While out and about over the weekend, I wore a few of my favorite fall fashion items from the checklist ! So far this season, I have been wearing my utility vest and flat booties the most. My favorite new purchase has been my AG burgundy jeans. They are so soft and stretchy. The high-waisted fit is perfect too. I could wear them all day because it feels like I have leggings on!

Ultimate Must Haves Fall Fashion Checklist

I wore this Levi’s utility vest over the weekend with my go-to skinny jeans and a new lace up top from Target’s A New Day line (p.s. it is currently on sale for $14!). This new line from Target is awesome, if you haven’ checked it out yet. My top in particular is thicker and softer than normal cotton. It is seriously cozy, perfect for lounging on a cold day.

Now, I need to know. Do you have similar go-to items in your closet for this fall? I would love to know if there is anything else you would add to my checklist too. Share with me what you are absolutely loving for fall this year!

Cheers,

Sarah Camille
