Bachelorette Party Outfit & Ladies Weekend in South Carolina

Bachelorette Party Outfit & Ladies Weekend in South Carolina

Hello friends! It has been a little longer than I would have liked since my last post, but my bachelorette weekend at the beach is partially to blame. It was definitely a good reason to be distracted from blogging! Before I get back into my blogging rhythm, I thought I’d share my thoughts on bachelorette parties, some highlights of the ladies weekend in South Carolina and my Bachelorette Party outfit. Spoiler Alert: I have an awesome new pair of knock-off designer pumps for you all!

First, let’s talk about bachelorette parties. Honestly, I was unsure about the necessity of a bachelorette Party or weekend. I do not have a sister who would likely take the lead on planning and I did not want to ask anyone to plan something for me or feel like a burden. Then, one of my good friends and bridesmaid offered to plan it all. I am so glad and grateful that she did!!

While a bachelorette party is not truly necessary, it was such a fun and valuable time to be with some of my closest and sweetest girlfriends. In the midst of all the wedding planning stress, our weekend offered me not just a break but a great reminder of the amazing people I have in my life. I am already reminiscing about what a special time it was.

To any brides to be out there who are contemplating whether or not to do a bachelorette party – GO FOR IT! This time only comes around once, so you should not hesitate to enjoy it and live it up. The truth is – bachelorette parties do not need to be an extensive or complicated production. As long as you are with friends and family that care about you, that is all that matters. You can decide to have a big sleepover at someone’s place, do a roadtrip or plan a big weekend in Las Vegas. As long as you are doing things you like with the people you like, you will have a blast!

Bachelorette Weekend in South Carolina

For my bachelorette weekend, we ventured to the coast of South Carolina for a long weekend. Most of the time we were near a small coastal town called Georgetown. Once we arrived on Friday, we did a walk along the beach, picked up barbecue for dinner and stayed up late playing Cards Against Humanity. On Saturday, we visited the Hopsewee Plantation and explored Georgetown after getting some lunch.

That afternoon we got ready to head into Charleston for some fun! We hopped on a party bus and enjoyed some games and drinks as we headed to dinner at the Darling Oyster Bar. Dinner was delicious and the service and ambiance of the restaurant was perfect for a Bachelorette Party. We went to a bar after dinner and did a little dancing before heading home. On Sunday, we slept in and ate breakfast burritos. We also went to a painting and sipping place in Georgetown before a tasty dinner and Olympics-viewing.

Bachelorette Party Outfit

After trying a couple dresses that did not work, I was unsure of what I was going to wear on Saturday night. I managed to pull a few things together in my closet. One thing I knew I would wear were my new pumps. These shoes are knock-offs of Valentino’s Rockstud heels. They look super similar and are a fraction of the cost. I decided to get these after reading all the positive reviews on Amazon. The maker of these shoes also has several other cute knock-off shoes that I am eyeing!

Did you have a bachelorette party before you got married? Have you been a part of a fun bachelorette party? Tell me all about it and what you wore. I would love to hear your thoughts on bachelorette parties in general too.

Hi friends! Valentine’s Day is coming in hot, and I am so excited to share with you a unique, personalized gift for the man in your life. It is the perfect, thoughtful gift, especially if your special someone is hard to shop for. So, what is it? It is an engraved wood watch from JORD! With perfect timing, JORD reached out to me to partner on this post. I have been wanting to get Will an engraved wood watch that will look nice with the suit he will wear on our upcoming wedding day. Even better? I have an awesome GIVEAWAY from JORD that will benefit everyone who enters it! But before we get to the giveaway details, let me give you the scoop on JORD’s engraved wood watches.

JORD’s wood watches are eco-friendly and their styles feature 13 different types of wood. JORD has a large selection of men’s and women’s wood watches. I love how many styles and color options there are to choose from. For Will, I knew the Frankie style with Zebrawood and Navy would suit him well with his work attire and the sharp blue suit he will wear when we get married.

Make it Personal: Give an Engraved Wood Watch

Personalizing your Valentine’s Day gift is a great way to add an extra element of thoughtfulness. JORD offers custom engraving options for the back of the watch or for the box. Will and I were both impressed with how well the engraving on his watch came out.

Like all JORD watches, Will’s watch arrived in a beautiful, well-made, unique wooden box that he will be able to store the watch in forever. JORD’s wood watches also come with two cloths for cleaning your watch and a natural finishing oil to keep the wood well conditioned over time.

I surprised Will with his watch last week, and he has thoroughly enjoyed wearing it so far. He has received several compliments already, and I know the engraved message on the back of his watch will be a happy reminder of our engagement and wedding day.

17 Best Fashion Purchases of the Year

Hi friends! I hope your New Year is off to a great start with some new-found motivation to achieve goals. Confession: It has taken me a little longer than usual to refocus after the holidays. Is it just me?! Maybe it is because of the whirlwind holiday activities and wedding planning (hello, homestretch!). Anyway, I have been reflecting on 2017 this past week and realized there are some fashion purchases that really stick out. There are seventeen items I would buy and wear one hundred times over. Of course, I want to give you all the details for my best fashion purchases of the year. But first, here is a look at the rave-worthy items in action.

Highlights of my Best Fashion Purchases

A big fashion highlight for me in 2017 was finding a new favorite pair of jeans made by AG. They super comfortable, with the right amount of stretch and a flattering high waist fit. I love them so much that I quickly bought them in a burgundy color. The only downside of these jeans is the price. But for me, investing in a more expensive pair of jeans that fits me properly is totally worth it because I end up wearing them all the time!

One of my most affordable rave-worthy fashion purchase this year was a jean jacket I got from Target. I have wanted a good jean jacket for a while, but many of them feel to stiff or fit in a boxy, unflattering way. This one is such a good find. It’s got that classic style and stretch in the denim that makes it fit perfectly. I also found a great long-sleeved tee at Nordstrom for only $19! I have bought in a striped pattern and multiple other colors. It has side slits that enable me to tuck in one corner at my hip and create a cute asymmetrical look. I love finding staple wardrobe items at a great price!

Perhaps my biggest splurge last year was a suede moto jacket, thought I did get in on sale during Nordstrom’s summer anniversary sale. I love jackets and coats of all kinds but this one is so versatile and has a very stylish fit. I’m looking forward to wearing it throughout 2018.

One fact that might surprise you — last year was the first year (in my adult life) that I bought Converse sneakers. I really enjoyed wearing them throughout the summer, especially with shorts on the weekend. As soon as I bought them, I thought, “Why didn’t I buy these 5 years ago!?”  Have you ever had a similar experience with a fashion purchase?

Hopefully my best fashion purchases provide some style inspiration for your 2018 wardrobe. If you have any questions about sizing or fit, I am happy to help. Now, I would love to hear your thoughts.

Are there any big fashion purchases you are planning to make this year?

Have any new trends caught your eye?

Or, are you praying any fashion trends disappear?

Personally, I am totally looking forward to wearing more ruffles, suede, gingham, florals and pastels in 2018. I would be quite happy if bodysuits, chokers and the romp-him trends say goodbye!
