A Dressy-Casual, Comfy Thanksgiving Outfit Idea

Hi friends, happy November! It’s that time of year where it feels like we are going to blink a couple times and it will be 2023. Technically we have 55 days though! And I don’t know about you, but I’m accumulating a long list of Thanksgiving and Christmas to-dos. That list is for another day though, haha. Today, I’m sharing a dressy-casual Thanksgiving outfit idea that is also comfy. For me that’s the perfect combination.

I enjoy getting dressed up for Thanksgiving but I also don’t want to be in anything constricting. Maybe that’s why the foundational piece of this outfit idea is an elastic waist skirt! I found this pretty, green leopard print pleated skirt on Amazon because I actually own it in a red polka dot print. I got the red one three years ago, and have been debating getting another print for a while. When Amazon had their prime day deals in October, I checked out the color/print options and the green leopard print struck me. It’s fun but subtle which I like. The green and cream color combination is also very versatile, and I can’t wait to style it in the spring!

For this Thanksgiving outfit idea, I wanted to style the skirt with a soft and comfy sweater. I chose a cropped, off-white, cashmere one with a chunky turtleneck. The cropped cut was nice because I didn’t have extra fabric that could easily look too bulky. The sweater easily tucked into my skirt at the waist, and I decided to just tuck it in in the front, letting it naturally drape around my back. For some contrast and to accentuate my waist more, I added my favorite brown leather belt.

For accessories, I put on my light tan embroidered, suede knee high boots (currently on sale!) that have a subtle western vibe. These boots are very comfortable to wear and perfectly match the sweater I chose, so it felt like a no-brainer. To tie in with the belt and the suede boots, I wore my brown suede crossbody bag (similar here). I polished my look with a tortoiseshell watch and my favorite reddish brown lipstick.

A note on sizing: I am wearing my normal size in everything.

I think the formula I followed to put this look together could easily be used with pieces in your existing wardrobe. Do you have a long flowy skirt or a cute and comfy sweater you are dying to wear? Maybe you can style it with pieces in your closet for a similar look.

I would love to hear what you plan on wearing this Thanksgiving. Do you to wear like dressy-casual outfits on turkey day? Or, do you prefer something else? Whatever you wear, I hope you feel good in it as you celebrate the day.

Cheers & Happy Thanksgiving!
