February is finally here! So, today I am sharing a few Valentine’s Day gift ideas – all under $50 – for the ladies in your life. I also want to talk a little bit about the day before Valentine’s Day – Galentine’s Day! Unfortunately, we live in a world where it is totally normal for women to get really competitive, compare themselves to each other and put others down. Whether you celebrate Valentine’s Day, Galentine’s Day or both, this season is the perfect opportunity to spread kindness and lift up the ladies in our lives. I feel like so many of us can really use some extra TLC during the winter too. I came up with a fun challenge below that I hope you’ll take on with me!

Now, here are seventeen affordable Valentine’s Day gift ideas can be that little something to show them just how special you think they are. Of course, if you need to show yourself some love too, I won’t judge that at all! 😉

Gifts for Her

Another gift I love to give girlfriends, is a picture frame with a picture from a recent fun memory for you two. These can be such a lovely reminder of the strong and special friendships you have.

Don’t forget: there are also things you can do for each other or give someone, that don’t cost anything! Writing a little note to cheer up your friend or just texting them, “you’re awesome!” can go such a long way.

The Galentine’s Day Challenge:

However you decide to share the love this month, I challenge you to join me on Galentine’s Day, February 13th, by showing love to the ladies who mean the most to you.

Our friendships and relationships are one of if not the most valuable things in our lives. But sometimes we make the mistake of assuming that our friends and family know how we feel about them. We all need support and encouragement from each other, and it means so much when a girlfriend shows you that you matter – right?!

I would love to hear what you plan to do for your girlfriends. Do you have Galentine’s Day or Valentine’s Day plans, or both? What is your favorite Valentine’s Day gift to give or receive?

Cheers!

Sarah Camille

Bachelorette Party Outfit & Ladies Weekend in South Carolina

Bachelorette Party Outfit & Ladies Weekend in South Carolina SCsScoop.com

Hello friends! It has been a little longer than I would have liked since my last post, but my bachelorette weekend at the beach is partially to blame. It was definitely a good reason to be distracted from blogging! Before I get back into my blogging rhythm, I thought I’d share my thoughts on bachelorette parties, some highlights of the ladies weekend in South Carolina and my Bachelorette Party outfit. Spoiler Alert: I have an awesome new pair of knock-off designer pumps for you all!

First, let’s talk about bachelorette parties. Honestly, I was unsure about the necessity of a bachelorette Party or weekend. I do not have a sister who would likely take the lead on planning and I did not want to ask anyone to plan something for me or feel like a burden. Then, one of my good friends and bridesmaid offered to plan it all. I am so glad and grateful that she did!!

While a bachelorette party is not truly necessary, it was such a fun and valuable time to be with some of my closest and sweetest girlfriends. In the midst of all the wedding planning stress, our weekend offered me not just a break but a great reminder of the amazing people I have in my life. I am already reminiscing about what a special time it was.

To any brides to be out there who are contemplating whether or not to do a bachelorette party – GO FOR IT! This time only comes around once, so you should not hesitate to enjoy it and live it up. The truth is – bachelorette parties do not need to be an extensive or complicated production. As long as you are with friends and family that care about you, that is all that matters. You can decide to have a big sleepover at someone’s place, do a roadtrip or plan a big weekend in Las Vegas. As long as you are doing things you like with the people you like, you will have a blast!

Bachelorette Weekend in South Carolina

For my bachelorette weekend, we ventured to the coast of South Carolina for a long weekend. Most of the time we were near a small coastal town called Georgetown. Once we arrived on Friday, we did a walk along the beach, picked up barbecue for dinner and stayed up late playing Cards Against Humanity. On Saturday, we visited the Hopsewee Plantation and explored Georgetown after getting some lunch.

That afternoon we got ready to head into Charleston for some fun! We hopped on a party bus and enjoyed some games and drinks as we headed to dinner at the Darling Oyster Bar. Dinner was delicious and the service and ambiance of the restaurant was perfect for a Bachelorette Party. We went to a bar after dinner and did a little dancing before heading home. On Sunday, we slept in and ate breakfast burritos. We also went to a painting and sipping place in Georgetown before a tasty dinner and Olympics-viewing.

Bachelorette Party Outfit

After trying a couple dresses that did not work, I was unsure of what I was going to wear on Saturday night. I managed to pull a few things together in my closet. One thing I knew I would wear were my new pumps. These shoes are knock-offs of Valentino’s Rockstud heels. They look super similar and are a fraction of the cost. I decided to get these after reading all the positive reviews on Amazon. The maker of these shoes also has several other cute knock-off shoes that I am eyeing!

Did you have a bachelorette party before you got married? Have you been a part of a fun bachelorette party? Tell me all about it and what you wore. I would love to hear your thoughts on bachelorette parties in general too.

Cheers!

The Secret to a Good Life

Last week was one of those weeks when it felt like EVERY little thing was going wrong. Maddie (my dog) got sick and I had to go to four different pharmacies to get her prescription filled. I was pulled over by a cop for a registration mix-up.  I lost my mail key. Work was difficult for a few reasons, and in the moment, it really felt like the universe was not on my side.

I generally try not to focus on the negative parts of my life, especially if I cannot change the circumstances. When it seems way too easy to focus on the negative things, I find it most helpful to refocus my attention to the positive things in my life and the things that matter most to me.

As I went on a walk yesterday afternoon, I thought about my difficult week and I tried refocusing. Then, as I took in the beautiful fall weather, I stumbled across a TedTalk by Robert Waldinger, “What makes a good life? Lessons from the longest study on happiness.”

In the TedTalk, Waldinger shares how this decades-long study has found strong relationships are the foundation for a happy life. He talks about how loneliness is correlated to poor health. Waldinger also shares that the relationships don’t have to be romantic. Quality friendships can be just as valuable as a romantic relationship.

It was fascinating, and made so much sense. I have found my relationships with friends and family are the most valuable thing. When I think about the big picture, I know my life would be so different and so lonely without their support and the smiles they put on my face. The important people in my life are a huge positive force, especially on a hard day or during a difficult week.

In fifty years, the details of my difficulties will not matter. What will matter is that my relationships with family and friends remain strong, if not stronger than they are today.

“The good life is built with good relationships.” – Robert Waldinger

Here’s to a happy week for everyone!
