What to Wear on Your Next Beach Vacation

What to Wear on Your Next Beach Vacation - Beach Style - Beach Packing Tips - SCsScoop.com

A couple months ago, Will and I were over the winter weather and craving some time away from work, recharging in the sunlight. So, we booked a trip to Cancun at an all-inclusive resort. It was the beautiful, relaxing, much-needed break we needed, though we left wishing that we could have stayed another day or two! Right after the trip we went full steam ahead on our home remodel, and if you’ve followed any of the updates on Instagram, you know that it’s been adventure. Now that things are finally starting to calm down, I am sharing everything I packed for the trip! My hope is that this round-up will help you figure out what to what to wear on your next beach vacation. So, here is what I packed along with my outfits!

I don’t know about you, but I often over pack for beach trips. Maybe it’s because warm-weather clothes take up so little space. Whatever the reason, this was the first beach trip where I felt like I didn’t over pack and I had the right items with me.

We were in Cancun for five days and four nights, and I had an outfit for each evening and a few swimsuits to rotate. I love the blue and white, flowy maxi dress I found on Amazon. It was easily my favorite dinner outfit, and i still can’t believe it’s only $23! My favorite bathing suit has to be the smocked number, pictured above with my green twill shorts. It was such a cute suit and super flattering. I am sure I’ll be loving it for many years. The other piece I am obsessed with is my white, cutoff shorts. They have the best fit. If you’re in the market for a new pair this summer, I highly recommend them.

I would love to hear how you pack for beach trips in particular. What are your go-to pieces to wear at the beach? Is there anything I wore that you have too? Let me know what you think in the comments.

Cheers!

Sarah Camille

My Travel Look + The Most Interesting Podcast Episodes I’ve Heard Lately

Life has been pretty busy recently, and we have had lots of road trips. Last weekend, we went to California to Will’s brother’s wedding which involved a cross-country flight and a few hours in the car. With that trip and several other road trips this summer, I have burned through A LOT of podcast episodes. But a few particularly interesting podcast episodes stand out. So today, I am revealing these share-worthy podcasts and my travel look from the weekend.

But first, a couple of shots from our California adventure…

The 5 Most Interesting Podcast Episodes I’ve Heard Lately

When it comes to podcasts, I think I am pretty picky. Most of all, I enjoy listening to entertaining, intriguing people talk about their personal experiences, relationships and things that impact the way we all coexist in this world. I love hearing about something new. Add a bit of drama or something unusual, and I’m sucked in. If this sounds at all like some of the criteria that goes into your podcast picks, you should check out the episodes I’ve shared!

Emotional LaborDear Sugars

This podcast episode highlights the invisible work that is done most often exclusively by wives and girlfriends. There’s a never-ending list of things women are taught to handle from a young age: making the grocery list, coordinating with the babysitter, making food for the party, scheduling a get-together with family and keeping track of all the appointments. The list goes on! What I found most interesting about this episode was how most men were oblivious to the invisible work discussed and how these social constructs seem to be shifting now that most adult men and women are working full-time jobs in the U.S.

Katie Couric on Death & Dishonesty – Death, Sex & Money

In this interview, Katie Couric opens up about her first marriage and how they dealt with his diagnosis and ultimate death. She shares a valuable perspective on what it’s like to see someone you love dying and how you keep moving forward, while allowing space to grieve.

Sharing DNA and Nothing Else  – Death, Sex & Money

Have you ever thought of taking a mail-in DNA test? Amy did just that and the results she got rocked her world. This is a fascinating podcast episode about family dynamics and what it really means to call someone family.

Rip It Life: Building Your Dream Career & Still Enjoy Life with Al GoldmanThe Confused Millennial

Are you the type of person to pick-up your bags and move across the country in one week’s time? I can’t say for sure that I am, but I loved hearing how fellow 20-something Al Goldman did this, all while making big career moves and maintaining a work-life balance. Al and Rachel, of the Confused Millennial, have a refreshing discussion about the importance of being as passionate for your career as you are for the life outside of your 9 to 5.

Jimmy Fallon Will Never Make Fun of YouHere’s The Thing with Alec Baldwin

The one and only Jimmy Fallon has a candid chat with Alec Baldwin about his rise to fame. He shares a lot of interesting insights about his life. And unsurprisingly, this is a really fun and entertaining podcast to listen to. It’s perfect if you could use a laugh and some motivation for achieving your dreams!

Here’s The Thing with Alec Baldwin is a great podcast for movie buffs, since Baldwin has a lot of personal interviews with various Hollywood insiders. Death, Sex & Money is my all-time favorite podcast. I have been listening to it for several years and always find the stories refreshing and entertaining. In contrast, Dear Sugars and The Confused Millennial are the two most recent podcasts I have started listening to that I love. Dear Sugars shares letters from around the country to kickoff conversations that mostly circle around relationships and social constructs. The Confused Millennial has a lot of episodes about living your best life, from career to self-improvement, and the host Rachel keeps things real!

Here’s my airport look from our travels last weekend!

Top (Similar) | Sweatshirt (Similar) | Ripped Jeans | Slide-on Sneakers | Suitcase | Bag (Similar) | Bracelet | Sunglasses

The slide-on sneakers I wore were perfect for the airport! They come in a modern metallic grey, that has just enough shine to spice up your outfit and they are super comfy! I always have to travel with a sweatshirt or sweater too. What do you prefer to wear at the airport?

I love listening to podcasts during my commute and travels most of all. So, I’m curious to hear when you listen to podcasts and what you’ve been listening to.

What is the most interesting podcast episode you have heard lately?

Have you listened to any of the episodes I shared, or any of the podcasts in general?  What type of podcasts do you like to listen to? Let’s chat in the comments!

Cheers,

Sarah Camille

Beach Trip Outfit Inspiration – The Honeymoon Edition

Hi friends! It’s been a while, but I have returned. I am officially a “Mrs.” now and am settling back into the real world after our wedding and honeymoon. Will and I honeymooned in Antigua last week, right after our wedding. So, today I would like to share what I wore on our honeymoon for some beach trip outfit inspiration. The weather in Antigua was partly cloudy and had a high temperature in the low 80s every day. With the a constant beach breeze, it never felt super hot. This meant I was able to comfortably wear shorts and sleeveless tops when I wasn’t in my bathing suit – what more do you need when at the beach!?

Now, before we got to Antigua, we had an unplanned detour in Miami due to a flight delay. We were happy to stay in Miami for a day and get some relaxing pool time in. Thankfully our airline and hotel in Antigua pushed our travel arrangements back so our trip was not shortened. The outfit below I wore in Miami after some pool time and right before venturing to South Beach. My light pink crossbody bag from Sole Society has been a favorite piece of mine this spring. It was perfect for traveling as well since it does not take up much room and the blush shade goes with everything!

Once in Antigua, my main outfit was a bathing suit with a cover-up since we were on the beach or a boat everyday. The resort we stayed at required more dressy attire for dinner, so I wore the floral dress below from Lulus. I got this dress specifically for our honeymoon and I loved how the colors mimicked all the bright flowers that bloom in Antigua.

If you are interested in Will’s outfit details, you can find everything listed here. Below are a few other favorite pieces I wore during our honeymoon and travels. I like to keep my beach trip outfits pretty simple so mixing and matching for different looks takes a minimal effort. The floral sweatshirt linked below is a major favorite. It is so cozy and was perfect for the plane rides.

My Beach Trip Outfit Necessities

Now that I am back in D.C. I cannot wait for summer weather so I can wear these items again. Do you have any go-to beach trip outfits or pieces you love for beach vacations? What did you wear on your honeymoon? Whether you are beach-bound or not, I would love to hear about the new outfits you have picked out for spring or upcoming summer vacations.

Cheers!

Sarah Camille
