Life has been pretty busy recently, and we have had lots of road trips. Last weekend, we went to California to Will’s brother’s wedding which involved a cross-country flight and a few hours in the car. With that trip and several other road trips this summer, I have burned through A LOT of podcast episodes. But a few particularly interesting podcast episodes stand out. So today, I am revealing these share-worthy podcasts and my travel look from the weekend.
But first, a couple of shots from our California adventure…
The 5 Most Interesting Podcast Episodes I’ve Heard Lately
When it comes to podcasts, I think I am pretty picky. Most of all, I enjoy listening to entertaining, intriguing people talk about their personal experiences, relationships and things that impact the way we all coexist in this world. I love hearing about something new. Add a bit of drama or something unusual, and I’m sucked in. If this sounds at all like some of the criteria that goes into your podcast picks, you should check out the episodes I’ve shared!
Emotional Labor – Dear Sugars
This podcast episode highlights the invisible work that is done most often exclusively by wives and girlfriends. There’s a never-ending list of things women are taught to handle from a young age: making the grocery list, coordinating with the babysitter, making food for the party, scheduling a get-together with family and keeping track of all the appointments. The list goes on! What I found most interesting about this episode was how most men were oblivious to the invisible work discussed and how these social constructs seem to be shifting now that most adult men and women are working full-time jobs in the U.S.
Katie Couric on Death & Dishonesty – Death, Sex & Money
In this interview, Katie Couric opens up about her first marriage and how they dealt with his diagnosis and ultimate death. She shares a valuable perspective on what it’s like to see someone you love dying and how you keep moving forward, while allowing space to grieve.
Sharing DNA and Nothing Else – Death, Sex & Money
Have you ever thought of taking a mail-in DNA test? Amy did just that and the results she got rocked her world. This is a fascinating podcast episode about family dynamics and what it really means to call someone family.
Rip It Life: Building Your Dream Career & Still Enjoy Life with Al Goldman – The Confused Millennial
Are you the type of person to pick-up your bags and move across the country in one week’s time? I can’t say for sure that I am, but I loved hearing how fellow 20-something Al Goldman did this, all while making big career moves and maintaining a work-life balance. Al and Rachel, of the Confused Millennial, have a refreshing discussion about the importance of being as passionate for your career as you are for the life outside of your 9 to 5.
Jimmy Fallon Will Never Make Fun of You – Here’s The Thing with Alec Baldwin
The one and only Jimmy Fallon has a candid chat with Alec Baldwin about his rise to fame. He shares a lot of interesting insights about his life. And unsurprisingly, this is a really fun and entertaining podcast to listen to. It’s perfect if you could use a laugh and some motivation for achieving your dreams!
Here’s The Thing with Alec Baldwin is a great podcast for movie buffs, since Baldwin has a lot of personal interviews with various Hollywood insiders. Death, Sex & Money is my all-time favorite podcast. I have been listening to it for several years and always find the stories refreshing and entertaining. In contrast, Dear Sugars and The Confused Millennial are the two most recent podcasts I have started listening to that I love. Dear Sugars shares letters from around the country to kickoff conversations that mostly circle around relationships and social constructs. The Confused Millennial has a lot of episodes about living your best life, from career to self-improvement, and the host Rachel keeps things real!
Here’s my airport look from our travels last weekend!
Top (Similar) | Sweatshirt (Similar) | Ripped Jeans | Slide-on Sneakers | Suitcase | Bag (Similar) | Bracelet | Sunglasses
The slide-on sneakers I wore were perfect for the airport! They come in a modern metallic grey, that has just enough shine to spice up your outfit and they are super comfy! I always have to travel with a sweatshirt or sweater too. What do you prefer to wear at the airport?
I love listening to podcasts during my commute and travels most of all. So, I’m curious to hear when you listen to podcasts and what you’ve been listening to.

I haven’t yet listened to any of the podcasts you have included here but they do all sound quite interesting. Based on your description, I am keen to first listen to Dear Sugars. Love the discussion on ‘invisible work’!
To be honest, I don’t really listen to podcasts. I prefer to read, but maybe I will try a podcast someday. 🙂 These do sound like interesting podcasts though. The podcast on emotional labor seems really intriguing.
Thanks for sharing those podcasts. Will look into them for sure
Really beautiful pictures. I haven’t really gotten into podcast, I know I should get into them because I like to listen to video on YouTube and not really watch them.
I definitely need to give some of those a listen, the most interesting one I’ve listened to lately is ”The Paycheck” It talks about the wage gap and gets into the history of how we got here.
Oo that sounds super interesting! I’ll definitely check that out. Thanks for sharing Kim 😊
