My Easy & Natural Everyday Makeup Routine

img_2669

Hello friends! I know it’s been a little while, but I have good news — it is confession time! Today I am sharing the products and details behind my easy, natural everyday makeup routine. These are the products I have emptied, used for years, and continue to go through super quickly. For me putting on makeup is an important part of my self-care, but on a typical day I like to opt for a pretty natural look that takes less than 10 minutes tops.

In order to show you the full impact of my everyday makeup routine, I feel like it is necessary to show you guys what I look like without any makeup.

So, here is my au-natural face.

Now, here are the products behind my everyday makeup routine!

Laura Mercier Foundation Primer – Oil Free

• Laura Mercier Tinted Moisturizer Broad Spectrum SPF 20 – Oil Free, Nude

• Cargo HD Picture Perfect Bronzing Powder

• Laura Mercier Eyelid Primer, Flax

L’Oreal Voluminous Mascara

Lorac Alter Ego Lip Gloss, Flower Child

Before applying any makeup, I always wash my face and moisturize (I’ll save my morning skincare/pre-makeup  routine for another post!). Then, the first thing I apply is primer. I love how light this primer is and it really helps my tinted moisturizer go on easily and evenly. Both the Laura Mercier primer and tinted moisturizer last about 9 months for me because a pea-sized amount of product is all you need.

I love that this tinted moisturizer cancels out any redness and evens out my skin tone, while still letting my freckles peek through. With a beauty blender, I place an extra dab of tinted moisturizer under my eyes instead of fooling with a concealer. This method makes the skin a little brighter without feeling heavy or getting cake-y. I think it looks pretty natural!

To give my face a little color and dimension, I brush the CARGO bronzing powder just below my cheeks and sweep it up around my temples and the corners of my forehead. A little bit of this bronzer goes a long way, and it is great for anyone with a fair to medium complexion.

The eyelid primer I use acts like a concealer for the skin above your eyes, and it’s seriously one of my all-time favorite makeup products. You can use it on its own, like I do most days, or use it as a priming base for eyeshadow to go on smoothly. My eyelid skin tends to get a little red, so I love using this primer to conceal it. The flax shade perfectly counteracts any redness.

If I had to pick a single makeup product to live with for the rest of my life, I would pick mascara. I have blonde eyelashes, so I have always felt like mascara totally transforms my face. As a self-proclaimed mascara junkie, I have tried a wide-range of mascaras. But the L’Oreal voluminous waterproof mascara is the one I always go back to for my everyday makeup routine. I love how sturdy the wand is, and the mascara has the right balance of lengthening and thickening power. It never clumps! Some days I use eyeliner to give my eyes an extra pop, too.

Lip gloss is always the final touch to apply as I am walking out the door (or when I’m sitting in that good ‘ole DC traffic!). Lorac’s Alter Ego lip glosses have a really nice texture, and most importantly they aren’t sticky. The amount of pigment is also just right. I have been loving the flower child shade, as it gives a nice punch of color to my otherwise neutral everyday makeup look.

So there you have it. Overall, I think my (not exactly) everyday makeup routine is pretty quick, easy and natural looking. For a regular day, I like a makeup routine that leaves me feeling like an enhanced version of myself. But, I would love to hear what your everyday makeup routine entails.

Do you have a natural, everyday makeup routine? How often do you wear makeup? Are you a tinted moisturizer girl like me or do you prefer a more full-coverage makeup look? I am curious if you consider applying makeup as part of your self-care routine as well. Share your thoughts in the comments so we can chat.

Cheers!

The Scoop on a New Electric Toothbrush + Coupon Code!

The Scoop on a New Electric Toothbrush + Coupon Code - Smile Brilliant CariPRO Review - SCsScoop.com

Today I’m sharing the scoop on Smile Brilliant’s new Electric Toothbrush, and I am super excited because I have a special deal to share with you! Earlier this year, I tested Smile Brilliant’s at-home teeth whitening kit to ensure I had the brightest pearly whites for my wedding. I was super impressed with my results! So, when Smile Brilliant reached out about trying their new electric toothbrush, I knew I had to check it out. Let’s dive in to my cariPRO™ Electric Toothbrush review and the good news for y’all!

The Scoop on a New Electric Toothbrush + Coupon Code - Smile Brilliant CariPRO Review - SCsScoop.com

What’s Inside the cariPRO Electric Toothbrush Individual Package?

I received the individual package for the cariPRO™ Electric Toothbrush, which costs $119 and comes with:

  • 1 cariPRO™ Ultrasonic Electric Toothbrush
  • 2 premium replacement heads with tongue scraper & DuPont™ bristles
  • 1 Wireless charging dock

In addition to this package, Smile Brilliant offers a Deluxe Package with 2 more replacement heads at $129 and a Couple’s Package, which is essentially everything in the Individual package times two. The Couple’s Package costs $199.

What Sets it Apart?

After using this electric toothbrush for the past couple weeks, I am still amazed at how clean my teeth feel after brushing. One of my favorite things about the cariPRO is the 2 minute auto-interval timer, which pauses at the end of 30 seconds, signaling you to start brushing the next quadrant of your mouth. This helps ensure you are brushing your teeth evenly and for the right amount of time. Here are a more things that set the cariPRO apart:

  • 40,000 Vibrations per Minute: I think this is a big reason why my teeth feel SO clean after brushing!
  • 5 Brush Modes: Clean, White Massage, Gum Care & SensitiveThe Clean setting was my personal favorite and I enjoyed using the Gum Care mode along my gum line.
  • 30-Day Battery Life
  • Slim and light-weight design with gray soft-touch grip: The design is really good-looking and it cleans easily.
  • Waterproof Design: It is totally safe for shower or bath!
  • Price: Compared to other electric toothbrushes with 5 modes, the cariPRO is about half the price. The replaceable toothbrush heads are also quite reasonably priced.

For me, the only downside of the cariPRO electric toothbrush has been that there is no travel case. I want to take the toothbrush with me, but have been too nervous that it would get damaged in a suitcase. A hard travel case would be awesome to have, so I hope Smile Brilliant makes them. Other than that, I have loved this toothbrush. There is no way I am going back to a manual one!

Now, it’s time for the BEST news for you!

I have a special code for you to get 50% off your own cariPRO electric toothbrush. That means you can get the Individual Package for $59.50!!

Four Warning Signs You Need to Unplug

In the final weeks leading up to our wedding, life was pretty crazy. While this was to be expected, I was surprised just how attached to my phone I felt like I needed to be. Plans were constantly changing and there were people to update and new details to figure out. Having my phone close by made me feel like I was keeping things under control. I realized just before the wedding that my relationship with my phone was getting a little out of hand. By the time our honeymoon came, I was beyond ready to break-up with my phone and unplug. So today I am sharing the warning signs that I have experienced and signs that you too may need to unplug from the technology in your life.

“Almost everything will work again if you unplug it for a few minutes, including you.” – Anne Lamote

Warning Signs You Need to Unplug - Unplugged Vacation - Sarah Camille's Scoop

Signs You Need to Unplug

  1. You feel the need to check your phone every 5 minutes or less! Whether this is an anxiety based action or just a habit, it is not normal to check your phone five times while you watch a movie or eat dinner.

2. You let your phone rule the present. If a Twitter or Facebook notification frequently leads you to cut a conversation off with a person you are spending time with, you need to unplug.

  1. You have a panic attack when you leave your phone at home .. for fifteen minutes!  I once had a mild panic attack when I went to the grocery store to get milk. I have also turned the car around to get my phone, even though it made me late to my destination and I had no real use for my phone. This may seem silly, but you will be ok without your phone while you grocery shop!

  2. You imagine hearing phone noises or seeing notifications pop up on your phone. If you have ever think your phone is ringing or vibrating when it’s really not, this is a big sign you need to unplug.

What does it mean to unplug?

Personally, I think of unplugging like a spectrum. You can unplug for 30 minutes while you workout or for a whole day. Some days I’ll put my phone down in my bedroom for a couple of hours while I clean or do laundry. Other times, like on our honeymoon, my phone was in airplane mode for a whole week and I checked my inbox or social media accounts a couple of times.

For me, my 9 to 5 job and blogging require frequent social media, emails galore and phone calls. Sometimes my relationship with my phone can feel like a love-hate relationship. It enables me to accomplish so much and connect with so many people. But, it can also feel like too much at times — hello wedding planning — ha!

Technology certainly offers valuable ways for us to connect with each other, but it is possible to take it too far. Doesn’t it seem ironic to watch a group of friends or family members at dinner pick up their cell phones or tablets and proceed to sit together while they stare at these devices? Don’t get me wrong – I am guilty of this! And sometimes it is necessary. Sometimes there are emergencies and deadlines in life. But other times, on a normal day, I think it is important to unplug regularly.

Give yourself permission to put the phone down and enjoy exactly where you are and who you are with right now.

Looking out for signs that you need to unplug is key to ensuring your relationship with your phone, tablet, laptop or television doesn’t take away from the human relationships in your life. Technology should enhance those relationships, not take away from them. Lastly, I will add that everyone is different. You may need to consciously unplug every day, while others may be fine with unplugging every week or two. Test out the waters and see what works best for you.

Do you feel like you need to unplug? Have you unplugged recently? Do you unplug when you travel or when you do certain daily activities? I would love to hear all about the unplugging habits that work for you.

Cheers!
