Spring is my second favorite season (I will always love fall the most!).  I love layering clothes and combining soft, neutral pieces with brighter bolder ones as the weather warms up!  If you are like me — love to layer clothes and are looking for some inspiration for your spring style, this checklist is for you! The items on this list will leave you with endless outfit options for spring and transitioning into summer.

Below is a checklist for you to use along with handpicked examples of each piece and style tips. Some of the items in this guide are already in my closet, while other items I am sharing are in my shopping cart because I hunted them down while I made this guide!

The guide below encompasses 18 must-have pieces for a stylish spring. I purposely tried to stay away from basics that can be worn year-round. I carefully looked researched the latest trends and searched for a wide range of pieces at a range of price points and styles for you all. The first option for each item below is less than $50. 

Maxi Dress

Maxi dresses are often too hot for DC’s summer humidity, so I have to get them out of my system during the spring. 

Statement Earrings

There are so many fun statement earrings out right now!

Style Tip: If you aren’t sure about this trend, start with a neutral pair that is similar to your skin tone or hair color.

Snakeskin Mules

I may be biased because I just bought a pair of these, but the snakeskin trend is here to stay and I love how it looks on my mules. It’s a super sleek and easy way to spice up a plain or neutral outfit. 

High-Waisted Blue Jeans

It is all about the high-waisted denim this year. There are a lot of different styles out there, but for spring, I love the flared jeans below most of all! They will look great with wedged sandals.

Jumpsuit

I wasn’t sure if I could jump (pun intended ;-)) into the jumpsuit trend for awhile. But, this year the trend is bigger than ever and I am diving in. I especially love the more dressy and flowy jumpsuits.

Style Tip: if you aren’t a fan of how the elastic waists look on some jumpsuits, wear a belt over it!

Flat Suede Booties

I love wearing suede booties in the spring, especially early in the season when you don’t want cold toes! These would all look so pretty with the denim I have shared below.

Plain Short-Sleeved Blouse

There are so many options for these in the spring! A plain blouse is perfect to pair with a trendier piece, like a patterned skirt or pants.

Jean Jacket

Jean jackets are very versatile in the spring. I love how they look paired over a maxi dress and with white or pink denim and heels!

Strappy Sandals

I am a shoe-lover through and through, but strappy sandals with a chunky heel are my favorite for spring. I found lots of colors and styles for you all!

Suede Jacket

A soft suede moto jacket is a perfect layering piece in the spring. I am also loving the less structured suede jacket linked below!

Striped Long-Sleeved Tee

This is one of those pieces everyone needs in their wardrobe, but especially for spring. I like wearing them with shorts and I wear more fitted ones with a flowy suede jacket, like the one above!

White or Pink Jeans

I am a big fan of wearing white before Memorial Day, but if you are hesitant to do so, try wearing light pink denim to freshen up your spring style.

Light, Neutral Handbag

A light, neutral handbag is a perfect accessory to freshen up any outfit in the spring! I got the grey handbag below and it has been very popular on my round up of Amazon designer dupes!

Floral Top

Because flowers and spring go hand in hand. Enough said.

Gingham Top

This is one of my all-time favorite pieces for spring. There is something timeless and classic about gingham and I think it looks good on everyone! 

Striped Tank

So many options for these in the spring! I love wearing mine under a jean jacket.

Paperbag Shorts

I love these trendy shorts paired with a more fitted tank, like the ones I shared above!

Slide-on Sandals

This style of sandal is back from last year, and I am loving it. For spring, I’ll wear mine with maxi dresses and cropped jeans.
