My 2021 Spring Bucket List

Hi friends! We are one month into spring, and I guess it is better late than never to share my bucket list for this spring! I actually made this list last month to feel inspired to do some fun and timely spring things. In all honesty, I have a couple other to-do lists full of much more boring, adulting and home improvement things (hello taxes and my never-ending powder room project). In fact, it’s because of those to-do lists that I am just now sharing this bucket list. But, I digress! If you’re feeling in a rut or looking for ideas of things to do this spring, I hope this list gives you a little inspiration to do something new or a different during this beautiful season.

I think most of these spring bucket list items are pretty self explanatory, but I do want to touch on a few things.

“Go outside… amidst the simple beauty of nature… and know that as long as places like this exist, there will be comfort for every sorrow, whatever the circumstances may be.”

Anne Frank

First off, getting outside continues to be one of my most treasured forms of self-care, especially since the stay home order and working from home began. Now that it is warmer out, I want to capitalize on that every day. Of course, it’s not always possible for me to get outside every single day, so I tried to set realistic expectations with what’s on my list. If running is not your thing, a bike ride or water activity like paddle boarding might be the way to go.

Burn your fancy candle!

The “burn a fancy candle” item is inspired by a podcast I have enjoyed for a long time — Forever35. On an episode a few months, they talked about how too often we have fancy wine, candles, clothes, etc. that sit in our home as we wait for some special moment that somehow gives us permission to enjoy it. And, you know what happens? A year passes. Heck maybe even five years pass and the fancy things have only collected dust. The past year especially has shown us that life is too short to wait for the “perfect” moment, especially when it comes to indulging ourselves. Buy that fancy candle (or whatever fancy thing you’ve been saving) and indulge yourself on a random Tuesday!

By the way, I found this pretty candle at Target the other day and looove it! When it burns, the aroma makes me feel like I’m at a spa.

Lastly, I imagine the afternoon nap item may seem odd to some of you. For me, I have a hard time allowing myself to slow down. I will dream of taking an afternoon nap on the weekend, but when the weekend comes I get very focused on things to do around the house… laundry, cleaning, spending time with Liam. I very rarely feel like I can afford to take a nap and on those rare occasions when I feel like there is time, I have such a difficult time going to sleep. This personality trait of mine makes me more susceptible to burn out. So, I am trying to be more conscious of that and get better at allowing myself to take breaks, sit on the couch and relax. Anyway, I wanted to share a little more about that one in case any of you are in a similar boat. I’m right there with ya! 😉

What’s on your spring bucket list?

Now, I would love to hear what’s on your spring bucket list this year. Do you have one? or do you have a few fun things you are hoping to do? Please share!

Cheers!
